Referee Outreach & Resources

Regional Referees must complete a fitness every year to recertify. Referees looking to upgrade to Regional Referees must take the fitness test as well. Click here for the Female Regional Referee Interval Test training tool, and here for the Male Regional Referee Interval Test training tool.

MENTORING

The Tennessee Soccer Referee Mentoring Program is designed to help officials maximize their abilities and advance to the highest level possible.
Do you ever wish there was someone you could talk to about refereeing?
Share your successes and struggles with them and ask for advice?
Do you want to become a better referee and improve your skills but aren’t quite sure what is the best path to take?
Would you like to upgrade but need a little guidance in the right direction?

A mentor might be just what you need!

What is a mentor?

A mentor is an experienced referee who has been where you are now. Your mentor will work with you and help you achieve your goals, provide support and encouragement, offer suggestions, and share knowledge. They can assist you with your career choices, whether it is rec soccer or the World Cup, and help put you into contact with assessors and assignors.

Who needs a mentor?

We all do! Whether you’re just starting or you’ve been at it for quite a while, all referees benefit from having a mentor.

Please contact your SRA, Don Eubank, to request a mentor.

TENNESSEE ACADEMY

Hi there!

I’m Leland Grant, the newly appointed director of the Tennessee Soccer Referee Academy. I was lucky enough to be a part of this group in 2011. Throughout the past eight seasons, I’ve seen the academy grow from our first class, with a roster of referees like current FIFA AR Brooke Mayo, to now, where we have made enormous strides and many in our group are regularly working professional matches.

Whether this is your first season or if you’re a seasoned referee, you have come to the right place to advance your career on and off the field!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, or any of our experienced staff, to let us know how we can help you get involved.

Currently, I’m a grade 3 referee living in Nashville.

Warmly,

Leland Grant

FEMALE REFEREES

My name is Rhiannon Daugs and I was appointed State Director of Women’s Officiating in 2019.

First and foremost, we are referees. Our training, standards, and goals are aligned with the U.S. Soccer referee requirements, but here in Tennessee, we would like to provide additional resources and mentoring for female officials. Our goal is to establish a program that recruits, retains, develops, and supports women referees in Tennessee.

There are approximately 20 out of 583 female refs in Tennessee who are a Regional referee or higher and there are only 583 female referees out of 2,251 registered officials. We are a small group and we have to come together to help Tennessee Soccer continue to make a name in the U.S. Soccer world.

We have a committee of supportive female officials across the entire state who are willing and able to help you on your journey as a referee. If you need anything from preparing for your very first game to developing your strengths as a referee to discussing a path to earn your National badge, please reach out. We are here for you!

Please find our group on Facebook under Female Soccer Referees of Tennessee to share experiences, ideas, and pictures with women from all over the state.

We look forward to working with you!

REFEREE OUTREACH

My name is Esteban Eordogh, and I was appointed as the State Director of Referee Outreach.

The outreach program was created to search for new referees and develop existing referees in culturally diverse areas.

Language and location can be barriers for some potential referees, and my mission is to provide a connection for those referees to reach out to.

This program aims to serve as a cultural bridge to include referees from diverse areas, identify prospects, and develop existing talent in our referee community.
